This January transfer window proves to be a time of feverish speculation and possible major transfers. A number of prominent stars are being linked with moves out of their present teams. We examine some of the top figures that might be on the move this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Although Ghana's inability to reach the AFCON, this has kept the player in contention, indications are a significant move is close. The Bournemouth attacker has a deal with a sizeable release clause active for a brief window in early January. Latest developments point to Manchester City look to have won the race for his services. Other suitors like Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have turned their attention to alternative targets, leaving clubs like Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a last-minute bid.

Marc Guéhi

The England centre-back has continued to excel for Crystal Palace despite a previous transfer to Anfield collapsing. As his deal due to expire in the close season, January is the club's final chance to secure a transfer fee for their skipper. A host of elite sides, including Manchester City and multiple European giants including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to hold an interest. Yet, a winter departure is considered difficult, especially given the manager's dependence on the player.

B. Johnson

The Wales winger has found starting minutes hard to come by at Spurs this term. Although finishing as the side's leading goalscorer last season, he has started only a handful of league matches. It is understood the North London outfit is willing to consider a sale for the correct price, thought to be in the around £40 million. The Cherries are currently leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also showing an interest.

Spurs rate the Welsh international at around forty million pounds.

R. Neves

The Portugal playmaker might be poised for a return to the English top flight after a period in the Saudi Pro League. Still only 28, while his agreement ending in the summer, he is a potential opportunity. Clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United are connected to the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there have been suggestions from Spain that he would be prepared to take a reduced salary for a move to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced German goalkeeper finds himself as third-choice at Barcelona under the coach Hansi Flick. Having fallen out of favour and had surgery, a winter exit looks highly probable. Villa were initially mentioned as a potential destination, but that option now appears off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly showing interest in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

This prolific England striker has kept finding the net frequently in Saudi Arabia. Coming back to the Premier League might boost his fading chances of making the England World Cup. But, arranging a deal presents significant challenges. His current club do not wish to sell him, and his alleged enormous weekly wages make any move complicated. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton have all been mentioned as admirers.

Conor Gallagher

The energetic English midfielder attracted considerable attention in the summer but remained at Atlético. Because of FIFA regulations regarding representing two clubs in a campaign, a return to Liverpool prior to next summer seems to be the sole available outcome.

K. Yildiz

The exciting Turkey attacker has been in fine form for the Italian giants this season. As his current deal running down, a host of Premier League sides – including Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are monitoring the developments. The Turin club are desperate to tie down the youngster to a new long-term contract but face a race to keep one of the continent's most promising prospects.

K. Smit

The highly-touted Netherlands midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his style of play. Following starring at the Under-19 European Championship, Smit has broken into the AZ first team. The 19-year-old is widely tipped to make a big-money move this month. Newcastle are believed to be leading the chase, but are facing stiff competition from the Spanish champions for a signing priced at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
